Membranes and thin film composite materials
Technology and Advances in Manufacturing Create Inexpensive Purification
The field of membranes has made a technological quantum leap over the past decade. The cost of manufacturing thin film compositses has dropped considerably, and new standards of filtration and purification have made membranes a necessary part of many water filtration systems around the world. Meanwhile, membranes are used for waste removal, cleansing, and other applications with chemicals to create purer concentrations of products, or reduce impurities through reverse osmosis and other technologies. Membranes also are used for protection against a variety of hazards on Earth and in space, and membrane technology is continuously making strides where other fields have stalled .
Notes and Special Information
Special note: Always look for NSF certification on food grade filtration membranes, and flush preservatives before using.
